What is Compliance Check?
BrightHire can automatically detect specific mentions of protected-class information shared by candidates, and optionally redact it to ensure that it is not visible on interview playback. Redaction helps protect candidates, by ensuring that any information shared that could lead to bias or discrimination (intentionally or unintentionally) is not visible on interview playback.
What topics does the Compliance Check feature support?
Family status and pregnancy
Sexual orientation and gender
Race
High-risk interviewer questions
Compensation (new!)
Permissions - Site Admin and Recruiters who have the View Redacted Interview Content permission
Setup - Compliance Check topics can be toggled on and off in Compliance Settings. Redaction can be optionally toggled on as well.
What does the feature look like?
Compliance Check by default flags and surfaces protected-class candidate information in the Compliance Check Log. The information in the Log is made visible to users with permissions to see redacted content, but is otherwise left intact in the transcript and recordings.
If redaction is enabled, this candidate information is also fully redacted from interviews. Both the transcript and audio/video recording from the interview will be modified.
Why did we build this?
Candidates - Helps protect candidates by ensuring any sensitive information shared during an interview is not reviewed or considered after the interview.
Interviewers - Keeps interviewers compliant with laws and regulations.
Companies - Provides the ability to monitor redactions at scale and facilitate coaching and feedback as needed.
Compliance Check enables you to have compliance visibility at scale and take action to help continuously improve your interviewers and ensure that they are staying compliant. Training and spot-checking are good, but never before have TA leaders been able to see how often protected class information is discussed in interviews, and what the context of that information is.
