BrightHire Interview Integrity: Candidate Fraud Detection

Identify potential candidate fraud directly within the interview workflow

Written by Jennifer Steinker

BrightHire Interview Integrity helps teams identify potential candidate fraud directly within the interview workflow. It surfaces reviewable signals across BrightHire Screen and live interviews, giving recruiting teams more context when something may require a closer look.

Interview Integrity is designed to support human review. It does not automatically reject candidates or make hiring decisions.

What Interview Integrity Helps Detect

Candidate fraud can show up in different ways across the hiring process, including:

  • Potential deepfake or synthetic media usage

  • Suspicious device, session, or network patterns

  • Potential cheating signals in AI screening interviews

  • Location or context inconsistencies, where available

BrightHire brings these signals into one place so your team can review the evidence and decide what action, if any, is appropriate.

Where It Works

Interview Integrity is available across different parts of the BrightHire workflow, depending on your setup.

Interview type

Supported signals may include

BrightHire Screen AI interviews

Deepfake detection, cheating indicators, device consistency, IP/geographic consistency, and third-party fraud session risk signals

Live Zoom interviews

Deepfake detection, device attributes/ consistency and IP/geographic consistency are those Zoom-powered interview integrity signals,

Live Microsoft Teams interviews

Deepfake detection and certain post-call IP/geographic consistency, where enabled

Live Google Meet interviews

Deepfake/authenticity detection, where enabled

Phone interviews

Not currently supported for Interview Integrity signals

Available signals may vary by interview platform, customer configuration, and early access availability.

How It Works

After an interview is completed, BrightHire analyzes available interview data and surfaces relevant integrity signals in the platform.

These signals may appear alongside existing interview materials, such as the interview recording, transcript, evaluation, or candidate profile. Each signal is intended to provide supporting evidence, not a final determination.

For example, a recruiter may see that an interview has an integrity signal that should be reviewed. The recruiter can then inspect the supporting context and decide whether to escalate, document, or dismiss the concern according to their organization’s hiring process.

What Interview Integrity Does Not Do

Interview Integrity does not:

  • Automatically reject candidates

  • Make final hiring decisions

  • Replace recruiter, hiring manager, or legal review

  • Require candidates to reinstall Teams or Zoom in certain cases

  • Require your team to use a separate fraud detection tool

BrightHire provides signals for review. Your team remains responsible for interpreting those signals and making hiring decisions.

Candidate Experience

Candidates do not need to install anything additional for Interview Integrity to work.

Depending on your organization’s policies, geography, and the types of signals enabled, you may need to provide candidate notice or collect consent before using certain integrity features. BrightHire recommends reviewing your candidate communications and consent process with your legal or compliance team before rollout.

Admin Setup

Interview Integrity is enabled by BrightHire for eligible customers during early access. Your BrightHire team will work with you to confirm:

  • Which workflows you want enabled: BrightHire Screen, live interviews, or both

  • Which interview platforms you use: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, or others

  • Which roles, jobs, or teams should be included

  • Any legal, privacy, or security requirements before rollout

Some features may require additional configuration or admin permissions, especially for Microsoft Teams metadata-based signals.

Reviewing Signals

When a signal appears, your team should treat it as a prompt for review rather than a conclusion.

Recommended review steps:

  1. Open the candidate or interview record in BrightHire.

  2. Review the integrity signal and supporting evidence.

  3. Compare the signal with other available interview context.

  4. Follow your organization’s escalation or adjudication process.

  5. Document the outcome where appropriate.

Early Access

Interview Integrity is currently rolling out through early access for selected customers. During early access, BrightHire may ask participating teams to provide feedback on:

  • Signal quality

  • Recruiter workflow

  • Review process

  • False positives or unclear signals

  • Admin setup and rollout needs

Your BrightHire customer team can confirm whether your organization is eligible and which capabilities are available for your current setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Interview Integrity automatically reject candidates?

No. Interview Integrity provides review signals and supporting evidence. Humans remain responsible for all hiring decisions.

Do candidates need to install anything?

No. Candidates do not need to install a separate agent, app, or browser extension.

Does this work outside Zoom?

Yes, but available signals vary by platform. Zoom supports the richest set of live interview signals. BrightHire Screen, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet support different integrity capabilities depending on configuration.

Can we enable this only for certain roles or teams?

BrightHire is designed to support targeted rollout for higher-risk roles, teams, or workflows. Your BrightHire team can help confirm the best configuration.

Will this delay access to interview recordings or transcripts?

No. Integrity analysis is designed not to delay normal interview processing. If analysis takes longer or fails, the interview should still process normally.

Is this a fraud verdict?

No. BrightHire intentionally presents integrity findings as signals for review, not definitive fraud determinations.

Do we need candidate consent?

Consent and notice requirements may vary by geography, customer policy, and signal type. Your legal team should review your process before enabling Interview Integrity.

For additional context, candidates will need to provide explicit consent for Deepfake detection in certain regions like the state of Illinois.

Who can see fraud or integrity signals?

At launch, fraud and integrity signals are visible to all users with access to the interview. Role-based access control (RBAC) is not available for this feature at launch.

RBAC support is planned for a future release, which will allow organizations to control visibility based on user roles and permissions.
