Compliance Check

Automatically detect and manage protected-class information and high-risk questions within interview conversations.

Written by Benjamin Sesser

📣 BrightHire’s Compliance Check helps your organization identify potential compliance risks in interview conversations and support fair, consistent hiring practices at scale.

When Compliance Check is enabled, BrightHire reviews interviews for specific candidate statements and interviewer questions. Any detected content is added to the Compliance Check Log, where authorized users can review it and confirm that it was identified correctly.

Permissions - Site Admin and Recruiters who have the View Redacted Interview Content permission under Roles & Policies.

For supported candidate topics, you can also enable redaction. When redaction is turned on, the sensitive information is removed from the interview transcript, audio, and video.

Why use Compliance Check?

Compliance Check helps your team:

  • Protect candidates by preventing sensitive information shared during an interview from being reviewed or considered afterward.

  • Support interviewers by identifying questions that may present a higher compliance risk and highlighting coaching opportunities.

  • Gain visibility across your organization by keeping flagged content in one centralized log.

It can be a helpful addition to interviewer training and spot-checking, giving Talent Acquisition leaders a clearer view of when sensitive topics come up and the context around them.

How it works:

When the Compliance Check feature is enabled, all interviews undergo a process to detect high-risk statements. Any identified statements will also be redacted from interview recordings, transcripts, and search results. All flagged statements from interviews will be logged in the Risk Detection log.

Compliance Check is enabled by default, but Site Admins can update the settings or turn the feature off from this page.

Step 2 - Select your Compliance Check topics. Each topic can be turned on or off independently.

Step 3 - Configure redaction. Choose whether supported candidate statements should only be flagged or also redacted from interview playback.

Redaction is optional and can be managed separately from topic detection.

Step 4 - Review the Compliance Check Log. Open the Compliance Check Log to review flagged statements and questions across your organization’s interviews.

Only users with permission to view redacted interview content can access the log.
