Before BrightHire runs Deepfake Detection on a live interview, the candidate must explicitly opt in. You collect this consent through a Workday application questionnaire, and BrightHire syncs it automatically.
Before you start
Deepfake Detection only runs on live interviews when the candidate has explicitly opted in. Before you add the consent question, make sure that:
Your BrightHire team has enabled consent collection for your organization. Your Customer Success Manager (CSM) turns this on once any required agreement updates are complete. If you're not sure where this stands, reach out to your CSM.
Deepfake Detection is turned on (or will be) for your meeting platforms. Your CSM enables this too.
You have admin access in Workday to edit questionnaires and assign them to job requisitions. An HR admin may need to approve the change.
Note: Deepfake Detection consent is separate from interview recording consent. If you already collect recording consent in Workday, you'll still need to add a new, separate consent question.
Workday setup
1. Add the consent question
Create a questionnaire, or add to an existing one, with a single-select question (multiple choice, one answer) asking candidates to accept or decline Deepfake Detection. Give it clear options, such as "Yes" and "No."
Use single-select only. BrightHire can't read multi-select or free-text answers.
Don't reuse your recording-consent question. Recording consent isn't the same as consent to Deepfake Detection, so BrightHire won't read a recording-consent answer as deepfake consent. If you'd like to use one combined question for both, contact your CSM first.
Then assign the questionnaire to each participating job requisition (Edit Job Requisition > Job > Assign Questionnaires). This has to be done for each job requisition individually.
2. Confirm your candidate report includes questionnaire answers
BrightHire reads consent answers from your Workday candidate custom report. That report needs to include the questionnaire answers group (Questionnaire_Answers_from_Initial_Application_Group).
If you already collect recording consent through Workday: This is already set up, and you can skip this step.
If not: Reach out to your CSM and we can share the report definition.
3. Note the question's Question_Setup_ID and exact answer strings
Record exactly:
The question's Question_Setup_ID (for example,
QUESTION_123). BrightHire matches the question by this ID, not by its text. The answer string representing consent
The answer string representing decline
4. Share your consent question details with BrightHire
BrightHire needs your question ID and exact answers to read each candidate's response from Workday. Send the captured values to your Customer Success Manager (CSM).
Example consent question:
Placeholder — Not Legal Advice: This language is for illustrative purposes only and is not legal advice or a final legal provision. Please have qualified legal counsel review before use.
"By selecting "Proceed," you consent to [Customer], BrightHire and its vendors collecting, analyzing, and disclosing your facial geometry and voiceprint data for fraud detection purposes. Your biometric information will be deleted immediately after completing the analysis."
Tips for getting this right:
Copy and paste instead of retyping. The Question_Setup_ID and answer options must match Workday exactly.
Send both answers. BrightHire needs the consent answer and the decline answer, and they must be different (e.g. "Yes, I consent" and "No, I do not consent"). If either is missing or both are the same, BrightHire won't collect consent.
Your CSM will set up BrightHire and confirm with you when it's ready.
5. Allow Workday to sync
You don't need to do anything else. BrightHire picks up candidates' consent answers during its regular Workday candidate sync.
Important: Complete setup before candidates start applying. BrightHire can only read answers from applications updated in the last couple of days. If a candidate applies before the questionnaire and BrightHire configuration are in place, their consent may not be collected.
Good to know: If a candidate hasn't answered the question, or declines, BrightHire won't run Deepfake Detection on their interviews. The interview is still recorded and processed as usual, based on your recording consent settings.
If you have any questions about the process, feel free to reach out to your CSM or to [email protected] and we'll be happy to help!
