Set up the BrightHire AI Teammate

Permissions: You must be a BrightHire Site Admin to enable the integration for your organization.

  1. Go to your organization’s BrightHire Slack settings.

  2. On this page, you'll see two options for connecting BrightHire to Slack:

    • Enable Slack notifications: The existing BrightHire Slack integration for receiving notifications about interviews, recordings, and other BrightHire activity.

    • BrightHire AI Teammate: BrightHire's AI assistant for Slack. In addition to receiving interview prep reminders and recording summaries, the AI Teammate lets you chat with BrightHire directly from Slack and ask questions about your candidates and interviews.

  3. Under BrightHire AI Teammate, click Add AI Teammate to Slack.

  4. Follow the prompts in Slack to authorize the integration for your workspace.

Important: Make sure you select Add AI Teammate to Slack, rather than the Add to Slack button under Enable Slack notifications.

What can I do with the BrightHire AI Teammate?

Get interview notes in Slack

After an interview is completed and BrightHire generates the AI notes, BrightHire can deliver the interview notes and summary directly in Slack.

From there, you can open the full interview in BrightHire or continue the conversation in Slack by asking follow-up questions about the candidate.

Prepare for an upcoming interview

BrightHire can help you prepare for a scheduled interview by surfacing relevant candidate context and interview preparation materials in Slack.

This can include the candidate summary, areas to explore during the interview, and other relevant context available in BrightHire.

Ask questions about a candidate

Ask the AI Teammate natural-language questions about candidates directly from Slack. Answers are grounded in the interview data available to you in BrightHire.

For example, you might ask:

  • "What did the candidate say about their management experience?"

  • "How did the interview panel feel about their technical depth?"

  • "Summarize the feedback we've collected for this candidate."

  • "What concerns have interviewers raised so far?"

You can also ask follow-up questions to dig deeper. If it's unclear which candidate you're asking about, the AI Teammate may ask you to clarify.

Compare candidates

When you're evaluating multiple candidates for the same role, you can ask the AI Teammate to compare them using evidence from their interviews.

BrightHire can synthesize the available interview data to highlight:

  • Relative strengths

  • Concerns raised during interviews

  • Areas that haven't been fully evaluated

  • Meaningful differences between candidates

Candidate comparisons are designed to help your team synthesize the evidence you've collected—not to provide an AI-generated candidate ranking or hiring decision.

Access your interview coaching

The AI Teammate can also bring personalized interview coaching into Slack.

Coaching is based on your interview performance and can help you understand opportunities to improve areas such as your interviewing approach, question quality, and adherence to your interview guide.

How does the AI Teammate use my BrightHire data?

When you ask about a candidate or compare candidates, the AI Teammate grounds its responses in BrightHire interview data.

Your existing BrightHire permissions also apply in Slack. You can only access candidate and interview data through the AI Teammate that you already have permission to view in the BrightHire platform. Connecting BrightHire to Slack does not give you access to any additional interview or candidate data.

This means you can use Slack to quickly synthesize information from interviews you have access to and ask follow-up questions without having to manually review every interview first.

When you need the full context, you can follow links from Slack back to BrightHire.
