BrightHire’s Scorecard Autofill automatically fills your Ashby scorecards with focused, high-quality summaries that capture the most important signal from the conversation.

Selecting an interview recording

When you navigate to a scorecard in Ashby, you'll see the BrightHire Scorecard Autofill at the top of the scorecard.

In most cases, BrightHire will automatically match the correct interview recording to your scorecard. When that happens, you'll see the interview details — date, interview type, duration, and interviewers — so you can confirm it's the right interview before autofilling.

If the interview wasn't automatically matched, click Select interview to open the BrightHire side panel and choose the correct recording from your recent interviews or search by candidate name, interview title, or position.

If the wrong interview was matched, click Change interview to open the side panel and pick a different recording. The interview details in the banner will update once you select a new one.

Autofilling your scorecard

Once the correct interview recording is selected, click Autofill scorecard to fill out the scorecard.

⚠️ Note: Because Autofill now generates tailored scorecard summaries in real time, it can take up to 25 seconds for your scorecard to be filled.

How scorecard questions are answered

Autofill reads each question on your scorecard and generates a tailored summary using the relevant parts of the interview conversation. Questions where relevant interview content exists will be answered individually.

Subjective questions or questions that weren't covered in the conversation will be left blank for you to complete manually.

Additional summary output

After filling in the individual scorecard questions, Autofill generates a separate summary organized by topic, covering important interview context beyond what the scorecard questions address. This additional summary is placed into the first scorecard field left empty after all questions have been answered.

Reviewing your results

Always take a moment to review the autofilled content before submitting your scorecard. Add your own observations, adjust wording, and make sure the feedback reflects your assessment.

Each bullet point includes clickable timestamp links (e.g., [5:23]) that link to the moment in the BrightHire recording where that bullet was discussed.

Customizing the additional summary

You have control over whether BrightHire includes the additional summary and what content goes there. These options appear in the Autofill options row within the banner.

Including or excluding the additional summary

By default, the Include additional summary toggle is on, which means the additional summary will be included whenever you autofill. If you'd prefer to only fill in the scorecard questions, turn this toggle off.

This preference persists — once you change it, it will stay that way across all your future scorecards until you change it again.

Using a custom template

If you have a custom AI note template defaulted for the selected interview, that custom template automatically becomes your additional summary output. You'll see a dropdown next to the Include additional summary toggle showing your custom template already selected.

You can use the dropdown to switch back to the BrightHire default if you prefer:

  • Your custom template — selected automatically. Your custom template format will be used for the additional summary.

  • BrightHire default — an interview summary organized by topic, covering key context not already in the scorecard questions.

Recording still processing

If you open the scorecard shortly after your interview and the recording is still being transcribed, you'll see a message letting you know the interview is still processing. The Autofill button will be disabled until transcription is complete.

Come back in a few minutes and refresh the page. Once the recording is ready, you'll be able to autofill as normal.

Feedback on Scorecard Autofill

After each autofill, a brief feedback popup will appear asking if the feature was helpful. You can give a thumbs up or thumbs down, and optionally leave a comment. This feedback helps us continue improving the quality and accuracy of Scorecard Autofill.
