BrightHire makes it easy to stay transparent with candidates by offering built-in tools to communicate when a phone interview is being recorded. Here’s how it works and what your organization can customize.
🎙 Recording Disclosure for Phone Interviews
BrightHire can automatically play a recording disclosure at the start of every phone interview conducted through our platform.
Our Standard Disclosure:
"This call will be recorded so we can focus on you, not taking notes."
This message is delivered before the interview begins, helping to ensure that candidates are aware the call is being recorded.
🔧 Want to use your own wording?
Organizations can upload a custom pre-recorded disclosure that reflects their preferred language. To set this up, reach out to your Customer Success Manager (CSM).
✅ Explicit Consent for Phone Interviews
In addition to the disclosure, your organization has the option to enable explicit consent, requiring candidates to provide verbal or keypad confirmation before recording begins.
How It Works:
Candidates are prompted to either press or say “1” to consent or “2” to decline. Until consent is given, the interview will not be recorded.
Our Standard Message:
"To consent to this recording, please press or say one. To decline recording, press or say two."
This feature can be used:
On its own, without a disclosure
Alongside the standard or custom disclosure
💡 What the Candidate Experiences
Here’s what a candidate hears when explicit consent is enabled:
Optional Disclosure – e.g., “This call will be recorded…”
Consent Prompt – e.g., “To consent to this recording, please press or say one…”
If the candidate consents, the call proceeds and is recorded.
If the candidate declines, the call continues but will not be recorded.
