❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Can I use BrightHire to make international calls?
A: BrightHire supports international calls as an add-on feature in the platform. When enabled, users with international phone numbers can use their own phone or the browser to make and receive calls with candidates globally.

Organizations will work with their CSM to enable this feature for their users and the requested countries.

Q: What will the candidate see as my Caller ID?
A: Your phone number will display in E. 164 format. This includes the prefix +[country code]. For example:

+551155256325 (BR)
+442071838750 (GB)
+14155552671 (US)

This number will either be:

  • Your registered phone number.

  • Your organization phone number if you have chosen to mask your personal phone number.

  • If your organization has purchased an international VoIP number for a specific country and you have chosen to mask your phone number, calls placed to this country will use that VoIP number.

Q: Can I use BrightHire to send text messages internationally?
A: When international calling is enabled, text messages through the text-to-callback or text before calling functionality can be sent to a candidate with a valid international phone number.

Q: What will the candidate see as the SMS Sender ID for text messages?
A: Text messages will be sent with your organization’s callback number in E. 164 format. If your organization has dedicated VoIP numbers for a particular country, then this number will be used to improve deliverability rates. While best effort attempts are made for SMS deliverability with the requested Sender ID, some countries may change this sender out of our control. Please inquire with support for more specific information.

Q: How can international candidates consent to phone call recordings?
A: BrightHire offers an explicit consent option for phone interviews that would require input from the candidate before recording can take place. Learn more about our recording disclosure and consent here.

Q: Are there any limitations to this functionality?
A: Each country may have different regulations or restrictions, so this would need to be handled on a case-by-case basis. Some general limitations include:

  • Phone calls placed to India must be made from international (non-India) numbers.

  • Phone calls cannot be made to Mainland China.

Explicit Consent for Phone Interviews

In addition to a recording disclosure, your organization can enable the option for explicit consent from candidates before a recording begins, either independently or in conjunction with the disclosure. This will require that a candidate press or say “1” to continue the recording. Our standard message is: “To consent to this recording, please press or say one”, but your organization can use a custom pre-recorded disclosure message or customize the automated message through our phone provider. Contact your CSM to learn more.
