We’re thrilled to announce an exciting expansion to AI Notes: advanced custom templates. This upgrade lets you tailor templates to your exact needs, making it easier than ever to generate the right notes for your calls. Whether you’re looking to streamline your workflow or enhance collaboration with your team, advanced custom templates are designed to help you achieve your goals.

To get started, look for this shiny new button on any Interview Page:

Click that, and you’ll see two choices: use a prebuilt prompt, or craft your own. We’ve included a Template Library featuring eight example templates designed for various call types. These templates can be used as-is or customized to better fit your needs, providing a quick and effective way to generate AI Notes without starting from scratch.

Whether you choose an example template or opt to create your own, you’ll see a totally revamped interface for editing your new prompt:

We’ve introduced advanced sharing controls, allowing you to set visibility options for your templates. You can choose to keep them private, share them with your entire organization, or designate them as defaults for specific user groups or meeting types. This flexibility ensures that everyone has access to the right tools for their needs.

Note: the advanced sharing controls are by default only visible to Site Admins. To enable Recruiters to see these controls, please toggle on the Can manage custom templates permission for them in the Roles & Policies page.

Finally, with our new template management interface, you can easily access and manage your templates at scale. Simply navigate to the “AI Notes Templates” link in the Interview section of the main sidebar. Here, you’ll find tabs for your personal templates as well as those shared with your organization. You can filter, sort, and even duplicate templates to suit your preferences.

We encourage you to explore these new features and see how they can enhance your interview experience. Your feedback is invaluable to us, so please don’t hesitate to share your thoughts as you start using advanced AI Notes templates!

Tips for Creating an Advanced Custom Template

Consider these helpful Do's and Don'ts when creating your custom template:

Do's:

  1. Be Specific: Clearly state what you're looking for. The more specific your prompt, the more targeted BrightHire’s response will be.

  2. Use Structured Format: If looking to organize information, present your request in a structured format (like bullet points, numbered lists, or specific questions).

  3. Iterate When Necessary: Don't hesitate to refine your custom template based on the responses you get. Iteration can significantly improve the quality of the information.

  4. Incorporate Examples: If you still cannot seem to get the information you are looking for, providing examples or context can help guide the response. Take a look at our library of built-in templates for examples of prompt strategies that work well.

  5. Reference the Candidate: In your questions, make sure to reference who you are talking about. Ex: What’s the candidate’s background?

Don'ts:

  1. Don’t Be Vague: Vague prompts often lead to generic responses. Avoid them unless you're looking for broad information.

  2. Don't Overcomplicate: While specificity is key, overly complicated prompts can confuse both you and the AI. Break down complex requests into manageable parts.

  3. Avoid Judgements or Grading Requests: Remember that BrightHire does not provided subjective judgements on the candidate’s interview. If a question is framed in this way, BrightHire will not return any information for this section.

FAQ

Can I use the one-click notes functionality?

Yes! When you click the Import Notes button, we'll take the full content of your custom summary and move it into the General Notes section of your scorecard.
